An evaluation can help you understand what kind of help your child needs. Getting an evaluation is a necessary step to access supports and services in school.

At American wellness Center based in Dubai Healthcare City we offer a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to help and diagnose emotional, behavioral, or developmental disorders in children or adolescent of school ages. Our American qualified and well-trained child psychiatrists evaluate children or teens and diagnose treatment plan on evidence-based practices.

Usually, parents or schoolteachers are the first to suspect that a child or teen is challenged by feelings, behaviors, or environmental conditions that cause them to act disruptive, rebellious, or dejected. This includes problems with relationships with friends or family members, school, sleeping, eating, substance abuse, emotional expression, development, coping, attentiveness, and responsiveness. It's important for families who suspect a problem to seek treatment as soon as possible.

Why are Psychiatrist Evaluations required?

Sometimes a child is not responsive to the psychotherapy or other child related therapies and the conditions persist despite enough psychotherapy. In such cases parents keep getting notifications from school and teachers that their child is not on track. We recommend a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation where the child psychiatrist will evaluate the child with a structured interview, to find the underlying reason of a certain behavior or a pattern of behaviors at school. After such psychiatric evaluation, a treatment plan is offered based on the child’s needs with a visible improvement. At American Wellness Center Dubai we have a state-of-the-art facility to perform these evaluations by our highly professional and qualified child psychiatrists are well trained to give a treatment plan based on your child’s needs.

A parent's concerns when a child is being evaluated
It's natural, and quite common, for a parent to question himself or herself when it becomes necessary for a child or adolescent to be psychiatrically evaluated. Parents may have many questions and concerns as to the welfare and emotional well-being of their child. Common questions parents often ask include:

What's wrong with my child?

  • Is my child abnormal?
  • Did I do something wrong in raising him or her to cause this condition?
  • Does my child need to be hospitalized?
  • Will my child require treatment?
  • Will my child "outgrow" these behaviors?
  • Is this just "a phase" my child is going through?
  • What will treatment cost?
  • Where do I go for help for my child?
  • What does this diagnosis mean?
  • How can my family become involved?
Our clinicians have the experience to be able to reassure and answer any of these questions.

A psychiatric evaluation is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a licensed psychiatrist to understand a student’s mental health, emotional well-being, and behavioral patterns. It involves gathering detailed information through interviews, observations, and standardized assessments to diagnose mental health concerns and recommend appropriate interventions.
