At American Wellness Center, we understand the unique challenges psychologists face to get license when returning to practice after a period of gap in practice. As an approved facility by the Dubai Healthcare Authority (DHA), we are
committed to providing a comprehensive and supportive program aligned with DHA guidelines to ensure a smooth transition back into professional practice.
1) American Wellness Center’s back to Practice Program is intended to reintroduce experienced Psychology graduates into the workforce through structured learning and exposure to practice with up-to-date developments.
2) The program length will vary based on the trainee’s previous work experience, as well as the required practice hours required by DHA. (Data Flow)
3) Due to the nature of the back to Practice roles and responsibilities, applicants must apply to and be approved by the DHA (data flow) and obtain an eligibility letter for a trainee license in order to partake in the Return to
Practice Program.
Our "Back to Practice" program is designed to help clinical psychologists, psychologists, counselors refresh their skills, update their knowledge, and regain confidence in their professional capabilities in line with DHA guidelines to qualify for licensing purpose with DHA. The program caters to those who have been out of practice for an extended period and are seeking to re-enter the healthcare system in Dubai, acquire license and start practicing.
DHA Compliance: A key highlight is that the program strictly adheres to the guidelines and regulations set by the Dubai Healthcare Authority, ensuring that all participants meet the necessary criteria for re-licensing and practice.
Comprehensive Assessment: Each participant undergoes a thorough assessment to identify areas that need attention, including theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional development needs. The assessment is done through
highly qualified, practicing psychiatrists and Clinical Psychologists considering professional requirements.
Tailored Training Modules: The program offers customized training modules that cover a wide range of topics such as updated psychological theories, ethical practices, patient management, and the latest therapeutic techniques under supervision of highly qualified and accomplished practicing clinical psychologists, Psychiatrist and mental health professionals to meet the DHA eligibility criteria of licensing.
Clinical Refresher opportunities: Participants will engage in hands-on clinical refresher programs/discussions / meetings under the supervision of experienced professionals to regain proficiency in conducting assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning. Further assistance will be provided based on DHA recommendations/ requirements.
Professional Development Workshops: Workshops on communication skills, patient interaction, and stress management are provided to enhance the overall professional capability of the participants under guidance.
Supervised Practice: A crucial component of the program includes supervised practice sessions, where participants work with actual patients under the guidance of very senior clinical psychologists and Psychiatrists to ensure practical
application of their skills.
Mentorship and Support: Each participant is assigned an accomplished mentor who provides continuous support, guidance, and feedback throughout the program to foster a positive learning experience and professional growth.
Assessment and Feedback: Regular assessments and constructive feedback are integral to the program, ensuring that participants meet the DHA standards and are well-prepared for re-certification.
