Mental Health Awareness

Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers, and 13% of children each year. The actual number is far more than this data compiled due to changing lifestyles, and post-Covid effects including financial stress, social seclusion, professional uncertainty career mismanagement, etc. People struggling with their mental health may be in your family, live next door, teach your children or work in the next cubicle.
However, only half of those affected receive treatment, often because of the stigma attached to mental health. Untreated, mental illness can contribute to higher medical expenses, poorer performance at school and work, fewer employment opportunities, and an increased risk of suicide.

We encourage you to see a mental healthcare provider if you notice any symptoms of being unwell in yourself or anyone who is around you. These signs may be small but if are addressed well on time can help us avoid any severe conditions. Do not ignore minor changes in behavior and lifestyle, it’s our responsibility to ourselves to watch out for those signs and recognize and address them.

Good mental health is important for a well-behaved and healthy social system at all levels. Let’s break any stigma related to mental health support which is as normal as physical health.
