Clinical Psychologist
I am Dr. Michael Hamarneh, a US-educated and trained Consultant Clinical Psychologist with a long-standing career and significant expertise in the provision of clinical and behavioural health psychology, Industrial / Organizational (I/O) psychology, Occupational Stress Management, and Occupational Health and Safety. I am a Licensed Psychologist in the US (State of Michigan & Illinois) and in UAE by Dubai Health Authority (DHA) & Dubai Healthcare City (Formerly DHCC). Before joining Ardens Medical Center in August 2024, I served in the capacity of Senior Clinical Psychologist with Dubai Health (formerly DHA) and Rashid Hospital from October 2016 to July 31, 2024.
Prior to joining Rashid Hospital in 2016, I served as Consultant Clinical Psychologist with Mediclinic (City Hospital & Dubai Mall), one of the 10 largest privately held healthcare organizations in the world. During my extensive professional career, I held numerous clinical, consulting, and management roles with various organizations in the US, including hospitals and healthcare facilities, behavioural health, community-based centers, not-for-profit and NGOs, and Managed Care Organizations. I also served on several Boards of Directors and Advisory Boards in the US.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Houston, and a Ph.D. (Doctorate) in counselling psychology from the University of Florida. While at the University of Florida, I developed considerable expertise in the area of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), multicultural competence, and cross-cultural psychology. My longstanding interest in multicultural psychology guided me to conduct my research and Doctoral Dissertation on the impact of prejudice and racism.
Throughout my educational and professional career, I received academic distinction, graduated with honors, and was inducted into several National and International Honor Societies (Psi Chi, Phi Theta Kappa & Phi Theta Phi), and Registries of Who’s Who. I also received multiple recognitions such as Sheikh Hamdan’s Award “You Are Our Pride” and was awarded City of Dearborn’s (Michigan, USA) “Heroic and Dedicated Service” Citation.
As a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, I have a long-standing interest and extensive experience in working with individuals and families from various cultures who suffer from a wide range of psychological disorders and problems in living. I utilize a variety of psychometric assessment tools and evaluations, as well as evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and ACT to empower my patients to overcome psychological distress and challenging behavioral and mental health disorders.
