"Believe you can and you’re halfway there".

I'm a dentist based in the UK but trained in the UAE, boasting a diverse skill set in various aspects of general dentistry. While I possess expertise in all areas of this field, my passion lies in the realm of cosmetic dentistry, where I specialize in rejuvenating and transforming smiles. I hold a DHA license and hold a Diploma in Endodontics, enhancing my qualifications.

My professional journey in Dubai has been enriching, offering me the opportunity to cater to a culturally diverse patient base, spanning across adults, adolescents, and children.

Notably, I have encountered numerous patients with dental phobias, an experience that has sharpened my focus on empathy and promoting patient autonomy. I firmly believe that by creating an environment where patients feel heard and can freely express their concerns, I can elevate their overall dental experience, fostering trust and facilitating better oral health outcomes.

Dental FAQ’s

What is the best way to protect my teeth?
  • Limit snacking between meals and reduce your intake of sugary foods.
  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day, or after meals if possible, and floss daily.
  • Avoid using a hard toothbrush; opt for a soft bristled manual or electric brush, and replace the brush or head every 8-12 weeks.
  • Use fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash to help remineralize and protect your teeth.
  • Schedule regular dental check-ups and consider professional cleanings twice a year.
  • Don’t ignore dental or gum issues. The sooner you address them, the easier and less expensive the treatment will be. Remember, a dental visit itself isn’t costly, but neglecting problems can lead to expensive treatments later.
2.    How do I know I have cavities?

The symptoms of a cavity vary depending on its size and location in the mouth. While some people may not experience any symptoms, others might have one or more of the following:

  • Occasional pain or a toothache
  • Increased tooth sensitivity, especially when eating or drinking hot or cold items
  • Pain when biting or chewing
  • Tooth discoloration, which could indicate decay or staining

If you notice any of these symptoms, it’s important to reach out to your dentist for advice and care.

3.    What causes tooth sensitivity?

Tooth sensitivity can be caused by any or a combination of the following;

  • Enamel Erosion: The outer layer of your teeth, called enamel, protects the softer, more sensitive inner layers.
  • Gum Recession: When your gums recede or pull back from the teeth, the root surfaces are exposed causing sensitivity to temperature changes.
  • Tooth Decay (Cavities): A cavity can expose the inner layers of the tooth, causing sensitivity, especially to hot, cold, or sugary foods.
  • Cracked or Chipped Teeth: A fracture in the tooth can expose nerve endings, leading to sensitivity, particularly when eating or drinking.
  • Teeth Grinding (Bruxism): Grinding or clenching your teeth can wear down enamel and cause gum recession, both of which increase sensitivity.
  • Recent Dental Procedures: Sometimes, treatments like fillings, cleanings, or whitening procedures can temporarily cause sensitivity. This usually subsides after a few days or weeks.
  • Acidic Foods and Beverages: Consuming acidic foods or drinks (like citrus fruits, soda, or wine) can weaken enamel and lead to sensitivity.
  • Use of Whitening Products: Overuse or improper use of tooth-whitening products can irritate the nerves of your teeth and lead to increased sensitivity.

If you experience ongoing or severe tooth sensitivity, it's a good idea to consult with your dentist to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.

4. Why is flossing so critical to oral health?

Flossing helps clean the tiny spaces between your teeth that a toothbrush can’t reach. Food particles and debris can get trapped in these areas, leading to plaque buildup. If plaque isn’t removed, it hardens and becomes much harder to clean. Over time, the bacteria in plaque can harm both your teeth and gums, leading to tooth decay and gum disease. Flossing daily removes a lot of the trapped particles, preventing plaque from forming and promoting a healthier mouth overall.

5. How can I make my stained teeth whiter?

In short, yes. However, whitening toothpaste mainly helps remove light surface stains. For more noticeable results, it's best to consider professional teeth whitening, either supervised or performed by your dentist. Treatments like chair-side whitening can offer fast results in a single visit, though the level of whiteness may vary from person to person. For a more dramatic and instant transformation, porcelain veneers are an option. These thin, durable shells of dental porcelain are applied to cover problematic teeth, providing a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing smile.

6. Should a missing tooth or teeth be replaced?

While it might be tempting to overlook a missing tooth especially if it's not visible when you smile, a lost tooth can lead to a multitude of problems that could eventually result in more tooth loss. So if you are looking to protect your oral health, it's advisable to replace any missing teeth with necessary dental intervention.

7. When should a child’s first visit be scheduled?

We encourage scheduling a dentist appointment as soon as your child’s first tooth appears. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children be seen by the time they’re six months old or by their first birthday, whichever comes first.

8. Why do baby teeth require special care when they’re not permanent?

While they don't last as long as permanent teeth, your child's primary teeth are essential for their development. These early teeth help your little one with speaking, smiling, and chewing properly, and they also save space in the jaw for the permanent teeth to come. If a tooth is lost too soon—whether from decay or injury—the neighboring teeth might shift into the empty space, potentially causing permanent teeth to come in crooked or misaligned. Additionally, your child's overall health is directly impacted by the condition of their teeth and gums.

9. How often should my child visit the dentist?

We typically recommend scheduling checkups every six months. However, depending on your child's specific oral health needs, we may suggest more frequent visits.

10. What is the most effective way to clean my baby’s teeth?

Before your baby’s first tooth emerges, we recommend gently cleaning their gums with a soft, damp washcloth after feedings. Once the first tooth appears, you can begin using a toothbrush. Opt for a toothbrush with soft bristles and a small head, which you can easily find in the infant care section of most drugstores.
